Many teachers find the role of form tutor both rewarding and satisfying. Those who wish to progress on the pastoral career route will find that this course allows them a chance to reflect on the more challenging pastoral situations that can arise. It also reviews the management and organisational skills needed to lead a Year Team of tutors.

Aims of the course are to:

  • Build on good practice and existing skills as a tutor.
  • Consider how best to tackle challenging and confidential situations.
  • Help improve confident communication with parents.
  • Identify how best to work with outside agencies.
  • Review the skills needed to manage a pastoral year team.

Who should attend?
Secondary level staff aspiring, or who have recently made the move to, a Head of Year (or similar) role.

He has over 35 years' experience in the education and health sectors, working with schools to help them develop good PSHE and great pastoral programmesThis takes him across the UK and he frequently works internationally, often with British schools in Europe and SE Asia.
