Culture Bias & Cultural Issues in AS & A2 Psychology

Psychology
This course covers a much neglected area in the A-level specification - the influence of cultural issues on human behaviour. Based on Andrew Stevenson's own articles (published in Psychology Review) and his forthcoming book on the subject, this course will provide theoretical grounding and practical activities for those teaching A-level psychology. Cultural concepts will be defined and related to key topics including social, abnormal and cognitive psychology.

Dynamic approaches to teaching the new AQA-A Psychology Specification

Psychology
The AQA-A specification presents new challenges for teachers and this course aims to furnish delegates with some lively, innovative strategies for meeting these challenges and reducing workload. Andrew and Jenna will take a fresh look at enduring issues, as well as providing ready-to-go resources for keeping up to date with new topics and new research on key topics.

Engaging Your Students to Improve Their Grades in GCSE Psychology

Psychology
Delegates will take away effective, interactive, ready-to-use tools and ideas for making GCSE Psychology lessons more understandable and more imaginative. The vital skills of evaluation and analysis will also be tackled during the course.

How to Teach an Outstanding Psychology Lesson

Delegates on this course will be presented with practical strategies for making psychology lessons lively, enjoyable, comprehensible and memorable. These ready-to-use 'lessons in a suitcase' have been developed by Andrew with the new psychology A-level Specifications in mind, and in association with two online psychology teachers websites.

Imaginative and Interactive Activities for the Psychology Classroom

Psychology
This course involves the dissemination of a wealth of creative and interactive resources for teachers of A-level psychology. Across numerous A-level topics Robert will demonstrate and share a wide variety of teaching methods which can be used in the psychology classroom.

Improving Study Skills for Psychology

Psychology
This course will demonstrate ways of discovering students' learning styles and how to apply them effectively to boost teaching and learning in psychology. Andrew will also examine new - but highly effective - reading techniques to enable students to tackle [often turgid] academic texts, together with methods to help develop the type of critical thinking skills crucial to success in psychology.

Innovative AS & A2 Psychology Teaching: A toolkit to incorporate the new specifications

Psychology
Delegates on this course will receive a number of syllabus-wide, ready to use classroom activities which have been developed by Andrew in association with two online psychology teacher's resources. There will also be plenty of opportunity for sharing ideas with other delegates.

The course is designed to help teachers enliven their lessons with innovative ready-made activities, as well as to inspire the development of more teaching ideas. The emphasis throughout the day will be on activity, participation, innovation and inspiration.

Preparing to Teach the OCR A2 Psychology New Specification

Psychology
This course will identify outline the topics which need to be covered in the A2 OCR specification and provide a wealth of suggestions on how to deliver this specification effectively. There will also be some resources and ideas taken from lessons which have been identified as Outstanding by OfSTED.

It will also look at the new synoptic Unit 4 structure and how this can be related to the rest of the A level specification. The assessment structure and mark scheme will be analysed to highlight the key points which students will need to be aware of when sitting their A2 exams.

Setting Up & Developing a Successful A Level Psychology Programme: A practical course for new and aspiring heads of psychology

Psychology
This course will provide delegates with a range of ideas and strategies to be used by new Subject Leaders/Heads of Department in the creation and maintenance of a Psychology programme. Vicky will examine and analyse the information that is required for such a role and share a wealth of practical advice for teachers considering such a post.
The day will offer an opportunity for delegates to address any issues that they may have faced, or may face in their new role.

Skills and Contemporary Issues for AS / A2 Level Psychology

This aim of this course is to focus on the essential skills necessary to study psychology effectively, as well as how to make the subject more relevant to the modern world. It will include: training students to write more effectively about psychology; developing activities to help students get to grips with psychological terminology; conveying psychological research with a more global trans-cultural relevance; bringing the classical studies in psychology alive by making them relevant to today's modern world.

Success as a Psychology Teacher: Practical Classroom Strategies for NQTs and Non Specialists

This course involves the dissemination of a range of practical classroom strategies to be used by psychology teachers whose specialism isn't psychology. Vicky will demonstrate and share the 'need to know' crucial information for psychology teachers, as well as sharing successful teaching materials and methods in order for delegates to become more confident with the subject. The day will offer an opportunity to discuss with Vicky any issues that you may have faced in the classroom and that you would like suggestions on of how best to deal with them.

Teaching AS / A2 Psychology for the First Time

Psychology
To help new teachers of Psychology successfully deliever the AQA (A) specification through an exploration of the following: student recruitment, producing useful documentation, responding to the requirements of the syllabus with an appropriate level of detail, completing the syllabus in the allotted time, assessing students' work, facilitating student success, and how to successfully carrying out coursework.

Teaching Psychology for the First Time: A survival guide for newcomers to AS/A2

Psychology
Newcomers to teaching psychology may be daunted by the prospect, but this course will provide a head start to aid overcome apprehensions. Packed with resources that are ready to go and designed to be user-friendly and interactive, this workshop will provide concrete ideas for lessons, improve confidence with some of the trickier topics, and enliven lesson plans.
