A PTC/DATA Accredited Creo Parametric CAD/CAM Course for Design & Technology Teachers

Design & Technology
This two-day course will provide attending teachers with a practical overview of how this powerful industry standard CAD/CAM software can be used effectively with your Year 7 to 13 Design & Technology students to improve motivation and achievement. The Creo Parametric (formally ProENGINEER) package is radically different and offers many new modelling features over its predecessor Pro/DESKTOP Version 8.

AS/A2 Level Design & Technology: Raising Student Engagement in Coursework and Enhancing Individual Project Development

Design & Technology
This one day course will enable delegates to develop and enhance teaching strategies that clarify and resolve issues such as a lack of student self-confidence and engagement in coursework projects in AS and A2 level Design and Technology programmes.

Working in small groups and as individuals attendees will work through a variety of focused activities and undertake a comparison of current approaches. Delegates will feel able to enhance, review and establish strategies that will engage their students in self-reflection, critical appraisal and target setting.

Creative Design in Technology: The latest CAD/CAM Software (with DATA Accreditation)

Design & Technology
The aims of the course are to: Create 3D reliefs from vector drawings and bitmaps. Explore the vector and 3D relief editing facilities. Create moulds for casting, or vacuum forming everyday and custom-designed artefacts. Delegates will also be shown how designs can be 'machined out' using additional software and a suitable 3-axis cnc router.

Creative use of ICT in D&T to improve Teaching and Learning

This hands-on course is a creative and practical introduction to using CAD/CAM in the classroom. Delegates will practice with Pro Desktop, 2D Design, and other software tools to develop ideas and organise thinking.

Non-Specialist teachers of workshop/design studio based Design Technology, who would like to improve confidence in their personal classroom abilities - to enable them to plan and organise their lessons and approaches for teaching designing and making in resistant and semi-resistant materials in schools.

Enhancing Performance of Higher Achieving Pupils in Design and Technology

Design & Technology
During this one day course, teachers of design technology will learn how to best identify, support and set targets for higher achieving pupils, and develop a greater awareness of critical thinking by exploring and sharing practical ideas for adapting existing schemes of work and current classroom practice.

Working in pairs, small groups and as individuals, delegates will be able to rasie their awareness of best practice to ensure outcomes that constantly stretch and challenge aspiring high achieving pupils - whilst keeping them motivated, engaged and on task.

GCSE Design & Technology: Controlled Assessment, Theory Through Practice to Enhance Pupil Performance

This course will add to delegates' confidence in developing teaching and learning structures within the framework of the controlled assessment and subject knowledge & theory examinations at GCSE. The programme will involve delegates in establishing 'best fit' for what makes a successful scheme of work and will examine ideas, while formulating others, about how to create a programme of study which is both challenging and accessible for students.

Pro Desktop Version 8 (DATA Accredited) CAD/CAM packages for use in schools

This split two day course will enable teachers to use Pro/DESKTOP to create 3D designs, engineering drawings and rendering views ising the Photo Album facility. the specific features covered include: Using and creating sketches and workplans. Creating and modifying solid shapes. Creating assemblies from designed drawings. Animation effects in both 3D and 2D. Machining designs using additional software and a suitable 3-axis cnc ruler

Pro/DESKTOP Version 8 with DATA Accreditation

Design & Technology
This course is aimed at teachers who wish to use PTC Pro/DESKTOP computer aided design software in the classroom and gain accreditation from DATA for its use in their schools. This one day workshop will be followed by an assignment which will be completed within 6 weeks of the course for all staff who wish to gain accreditation. Successful candidates will qualify for a free site license for the PTC Pro/DESKTOP software.

Risk Assessments and Health & Safety in Design & Technology

Design & Technology
The course will provide a coherent framework to help with understanding of the national standards BS4163:2007 and new gas regulations for education and other publications, and prepares you to compile Risk Assessments for your lessons within your curriculum set up. It will cover food, textiles, RM, Systems and Control, construction and Motor Mechanics.

Systems and Control for KS3 Design & Technology

Design & Technology
Delegates will be able to get to grips with a range of systems and control resources on this practical one-day course. Teachers will return to school with teaching notes and exemplars to support the planning and implementation of two delightful projects: The "Bubble Blower" and "The Walkbot".

Using ICT and "Smart Materials" in KS3 Food Technology

Design & Technology
This course provides you with an overview of "smart" or functional food materials and demonstrates practical ways to incorporate them into the food technology curriculum. In addition the use of ICT to support the curriculum and management of the subject will be introduced.
