Under TLR, many pastoral heads have found that their role has changed. They have to be more involved in pupils' learning and attainment, with less emphasis on behaviour management. And with new titles, such as 'Senior Learning Mentor', new skills are required. This course explores the contribution that such monitoring and mentoring roles can make to raising attainment in a school and strategies to avoid being drawn back into the fire-fighting roles that beset Heads of Year in the past.
