The new English specifications provide exciting  opportunities for teachers to rethink and restructure  their approaches to texts. In addition, however, there  is a wider challenge to develop a Focused Learning  Framework for the two years - which not only makes  the best use of the freedom of choice in many of the  specifications - but also provides a secure  foundation for all students to benefit from the  opportunities inherent in these new approaches.
  The day will be relevant to all the  specifications, covering learning strategies,  assessment and the particular challenges of  poetry and the expanded role of coursework.  The course will be practical, with a range of  suggestions for classroom activities and  demonstrate clearly how these can improve the  performance of your students.
