By the end of the course teachers will have developed strategies and resources for coping with the new challenges of English Literature specifications - which have moved markedly away from the old and familiar model. They will receive many practical suggestions for planning and teaching the new courses and feel confident about dealing with the comparison of texts, responding appropriately to the open-ended coursework requirements and have explained new ways of approaching Shakespeare.
Attenders will assess material written by students in order to understand how they can practically improve the performance of their own candidates. They will thoroughly appraise the influence of the new assessment objectives and be aware of the need for different reading strategies, detail, overview, gist and how these new concepts can effectively be incorporated into their planning and teaching.
