This course is aimed at staff leading colleagues who regularly face challenging behaviour. This is a very practical day, focussed on pragmatic approaches to the realities of managing staff in this emotive area.
The course draws on real life examples of outstanding practice, as well as focussing on strategies for team leaders to ensure their own survival and well-being when leading teams under pressure. This includes managing and reducing the tide of "upward referrals" of problems.
Materials from the course include a tried-and-tested 'stand alone' package which can be used back at work to train staff, of all skill levels, in conflict handling and deescalation. Previous delegates from this training have felt able to implement the strategies and training materials to generate immediate improvements in staff behaviour management capabilities - and reduce rates of incidents and referrals.
The themes running throughout the day target successful practice in 2 of the 4 strands of the new OfSTED Self-Evaluation Framework (promoting improved behaviour and learning progress).
Jim's training style is relaxed and informal, with an emphasis on supporting colleagues in finding practical ways to develop their practice.
