Leading and managing a team of staff is key to being a successful leader, whether of teaching or support staff. An important part of this is the creation of a collaborative culture that both supports and sets high expectations for colleagues. Staff should be involved both in the development of their department (or section) as well as their own professional development.
This course will discuss how to lead and manage people successfully and outline strategies for building the departmental team. It will also demonstrate how to delegate successfully to colleagues and to motivate them. Additionally, it will suggest ways of dealing with senior managers, non-specialist teachers, parents and difficult staff as well as illustrating how to avoid confrontation and manage conflict.
