The course aims to provide opportunities for geography teachers to develop their understanding and practice of teaching at GCSE level with the specific intention of raising student attainment in Geography in preparation for the Higher-tiered paper. The day will provide teaching and learning strategies for raising examination performance of students at Key Stage 4 level aiming to improve their grade form C and above.

The course gives the teacher confidence and skills to stretch students working towards the higher grades. It will also provide guidance on how to prepare and revise for Geography GCSE. There will be a particular emphasis on case studies and coursework. The course will examine techniques for enhancing students' recall in Geography. The day is suitable for those new to the subject as well as those aiming to gain fresh ideas.
