The course will offer a framework to assist in preparing the students for Media Studies examinations, with a view to improving attainment. By focussing on the assessment needs of the new specifications, practical methodologies will be discussed to assist students’ achievements in understanding and applying an analytical framework, developing critical autonomy and responding to questions in the examination. Central to all awarding bodies’ AS examinations is the ability to critically analyse a range of media texts.
Delegates will look at ways to support the understanding of Media Concepts and their practical application. The course will focus on classroom activities, formative assessment processes and the development of critical autonomy. This will be developed for A2 looking at the use of a theoretical framework and contextualisation. Delegates will be offered classroom tested methods to support students’ development in these areas.
