OfSTED reports that the opportunities presented within the setting and assessment of homework are often not maximised. Opportunities for extending learning, building upon higher order thinking and the development of real research skills are often missed.
This course will provide delegates with not only the rationale behind using homework as an effective tool to revise, reinforce and extend classroom learning but also give guidelines on developing a whole school approach that will enable the setting of homework to complement the teaching for learning process.
The aims of the course are to:
* Develop an understanding of the rationale behind the setting of homework
* Identify how the marking of pupils' work will help to motivate, build confidence and boost self-esteem
* Identify strategies to use homework to complement the teaching for learning process
* Identify the components of effective Homework Policies
