The course is designed to develop the skills of observing learning and teaching and giving high quality feedback. It will look at key issues in observing learning and teaching, and the progress pupils make, using the OfSTED criteria and with reference to the Performance Management of teachers.

The focus will be on observing lessons using the OfSTED guidance for school self-evaluation. There will be a session on how to give effective feedback, particularly where teaching is inadequate and how feedback can be important in moving teaching to the next level. The final session will be about the links to Performance Management of teachers.
