This course offers a chance to consider practical strategies that can heighten and extend the students understanding beyond the conventional teaching approaches. Many English teachers are not comfortable with the idea of using 'drama' in their lessons. This course provides ways into drama techniques that will allow teachers to feel confident and comfortable in their use.

The day will provide ideas that can be used in the classroom, with no need for a studio. Ideas that can allow students to respond to their texts and work in a variety of ways, ideas that will not embarrass the teacher or the students but will generate enthusiasm for the work. The course will look generally at all aspects of the English curriculum but will centre on literacy, plays, poetry and prose.
