The course will investigate many aspects of leading a successful Citizenship department. Delegates will explore what is meant by the "desired provision" and discuss the advantages, disadvantages and implications of the methods of Citizenship delivery. How does it impact at whole school level? How does it impact upon the classroom?

Innovative teaching strategies will be reviewed to enhance the learning experience for students. A range of lessons from Year 7 and 9 will be collaboratively reviewed. A variety of forms of assessment will be analysed in detail and reflect on the principles of AfL. The course will examine ways to raise the profile of Citizenship through special events, extra curricular activities and pupils' participation in the life of the school.
