This course explores the differing requirements of the  specifications for GCSE Music from all the available  examination boards, with particular reference to the  composing sections.
  Ideas for basic exercises in composition will be  discussed, focusing on two areas of significant difficulty  for many pupils - a) exploring their creativity and  harnessing the results into meaningful sound and b)  teaching the basics of harmony to beginners -  delegates will be invited to share ideas and experiences  in this area. The course will also explore the accurate  assessment and marking of compositions and the use  of assessment criteria to help inform and guide the  composition process.
