Assessment is a fundamental part of everyday school life to track and monitor progress and determine any barriers to learning. Fully standardised assessments are used to provide a benchmark of attainment and achievement against the national population and have enormous benefits in providing clues as to where specific difficulties with learning may lie. They are particularly useful for providing evidence when applying for additional support and when determining whether students require additional access arrangements for external examinations.
Standardised assessments have been developed through a highly complex and robust procedure, and in order to interpret scores and write reports which are fit for purpose, a thorough understanding of assessment is necessary. This course provides all you need to know to be able to choose a useful standardised assessment, conduct an assessment in a standardised way, interpret data and write a report which is "fit for purpose".
