This course provides teachers of RE with practical, well thought out approaches to assessing the subject. The course practically applies 'assessing pupils' progress' techniques to 11-14 RE at levels 3-7. Participants will gain many usable ideas for assessment tasks and tests which explore learning about Islam, Christianity and other religions, and learning from religion. The course will provide delegates with usable, assessable, creative and thoughtful classroom ideas.

Religious education teachers continue to work hard to make assessment meaningful in the context of an hour a week. Inspection highlights weaknesses in planning and assessment, but this course will provide real solutions, and numerous examples of pupils' work that show achievement. Assessment focuses for each level that include enquiry models of learning will be demonstrated, and guidance on marking and recording achievement will be given. The key challenges for teachers in RE are to plan assessment that is part of good learning, and that is clear, fair and manageable - this can lead to good progress for each pupil and to engaged learners with a clear sense of their own progress.
