This course will provide opportunities for teachers of all subjects to evaluate their current methods of course delivery and to consider ways in which it might be possible for them to enrich teaching and learning by adopting the Extended Project.
Using examples from both academic (Geography) and vocational (Travel & Tourism) subjects, the course aims to support teachers by offering a range of ideas and practical hints that will help them to establish "a single piece of work of a student's choosing that requires evidence of planning, preparation, research and autonomous working" as part of the curriculum. Delegates will be guided towards a range of possible strategies that will enable them to offer a programme of study that extends student opportunities, experiences and skills.
Aims of the course are:
* Make delegates aware of what is required for Extended Project delivery
* Illustrate possible links/overlap for Extended Project delivery between former student reports such as "The Personal Investigative Study" and present portfolio based assignments
* Encourage delegates to evaluate the ways in which their courses are currently delivered
* Help delegates make the most of current opportunities available to them.
